Virgin Hotels Nashville reopens with innovative art installation in the hotel from artist John Peralta
Nashville, TN – As hotels become art destinations, Virgin Hotels partners with artist John Peralta to make their newest hotel in Nashville a must-see cultural landmark and cutting-edge art destination.
Leading interior design firm, MARKZEFF, designed the Virgin Hotels Nashville property to be modern yet comfortable with playful elements incorporated throughout. Drawing inspiration from the Nashville region, design details are represented through the use of intricate brick, roughhewn timber, sumptuous furnishings and refined industrial elements. Nashville’s rich history largely influenced the spaces, while artwork and custom furniture play a key role to create a delightful and memorable experience. Guests can find subtle nods to Nashville throughout the design like in the meeting spaces where the carpets are a modern interpretation of vintage quilts one might find in the area. MARKZEFF and Virgin Hotels Nashville commissioned artist John Peralta to create the centerpiece of the hotel with a major art installation in the lobby that matched the hotel’s venture alongside Peralta’s innovative artistic vision. Peralta is regarded internationally for his technical prowess creating suspended, exploded sculptures that investigate and pay homage to mechanical technologies and release the memories held inside. His work has exhibited all over the world, including major art fairs.
A showstopping art installation, Peralta’s Music City Ensemble features a 12-piece ensemble of country music instruments—provided by some of the top manufacturers including A&F Drum Co, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Eastwood Guitars—floating weightlessly from the ceiling in Peralta’s signature engineering finesse, welcoming guests in the hotel main lobby. The installation is meant to be a cultural landmark that offers nuanced perspectives on public art, country music, and Americana.

John Peralta is a self-taught artist whose unconventional style of sculpture incorporates iconic mechanical objects and high-tech materials to produce astonishingly beautiful and complex representations. His interpretation of what is known in engineering terms as the exploded diagram, is truly original and demonstrates his extraordinary imagination, technical expertise, and inventiveness.
